2005 NBA Finals Preview
By: Jason Cunningham (6/07/2005)
When the Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs
begin their best of seven series on Thursday night, it will pit the defending
champions Pistons versus the previous year's champion, the Spurs. Arguably if
you are a fan of good fundamental basketball, then you could not ask for a
better matchup. These two teams lack the flash, however will give you a solid
effort on both ends of the floor.
The NBA probably would have made more money on two
less talented teams in the Finals, yet I believe this will be a seven game
classic. In the end, the Spurs will prevail, because there is no answer to the
play of Spurs Manu Ginobili and the playoff hero of our modern day, Robert Horry. I am
sure that the seven game Eastern Conference Finals for the Detroit Pistons
against the Miami Heat will be too much to overcome. Their legs will be tired
for the first game, and they will lose.
Last year's NBA Finals MVP, Detroit's Chauncey
Billups will do all he can to will his team to another NBA Championship.
Unfortunately, I believe the Pistons will not have enough to beat the Spurs, and
Spurs' leader Tim Duncan will be hoisting this year's MVP trophy.
