Is it too early to talk about the
upcoming NBA season, absolutely not. Especially when the Eastern Conference will
have a changing of the guard. The Detroit Pistons will no longer be the NBA's
most dominating defense, and find themselves exiting the playoffs as early as
their former coach Larry Brown can sign a deal with another team. If Brown
becomes the coach of the NY Knicks, then at least they will make the playoffs,
but a first round exit is guaranteed.
This will be the last opportunity for
Shaq to win a NBA Championship. Age is starting to catch up with the big fellow,
however the future 2005-2006 NBA MVP, in my opinion, Dwayne Wade will
lead them to the crown. The Cleveland Cavs and the Indianapolis Pacers will be
the second and third best team in the NBA. The return of Ron Artest for
the Pacers will uplift the team, yet they will still fall short of NBA gold.
The Western Conference is be nothing
short of parody. The Phoenix Suns will get it right this year. NBA Commissioner
David Stern should be dancing for joy if the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns meet in
the NBA Finals. Ratings, ratings and more money revenue than you can dream of
making in one's lifetime. It is going to happen, no matter the best efforts of
the defending NBA Champions San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks. Kobe and
Phil Jackson will make the playoffs, but Jackson will have time to teach Larry
Brown to be more "Zen-like."
2005 - 2006 NBA MVP: Dwayne Wade, Miami Heat
- The man is the real Superman on the Miami Heat.
NBA Defensive Player of the Year - Ben
Wallace, Detroit Pistons - I would vote for him every year.
NBA Sixth Man of the Year - Robert Horry, San
Antonio Spurs - He needs some more hardware before he retires.
NBA Rookie of the Year - Marvin Williams,
Atlanta Hawks - Look he is bound to win the award. He does not have much of
team.
NBA Finals - Miami Heat win over
the Phoenix Suns.
