A Better Cavaliers'
Performance Versus the Pistons
By: Jason Cunningham (5/10/2006)
Last night, I wrote the
Cleveland Cavaliers off too early. The Pistons jumped on them early, and by
halftime, I was thinking about changing the channel. However, the Cavaliers have
a modern day superhero named Lebron James.
At halftime, I almost turned
away from the Cavs and Pistons' NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals Game. Again,
the Pistons were hitting three pointers left and right and had a 16 point lead at halftime.
Something happened in the
fourth quarter of the game. Instead of benching his starters, first year
Cavalier's Coach Mike Brown elected to keep them on the floor. It turned out to
be a good decision. Down to the wire, the young Cavaliers fought back like champions.
Lebron scored 23 of his 30 points in the second half. King James was also a
beast on the boards; he grabbed 14 rebounds. In the end, the Cavs came up 6
points short of sending the game into overtime. They lost 97-91 to the Detroit Pistons.
