All Liberals Are Not
Anti-Christmas
By: Jason Cunningham (11-29-05)
Liberals are always licking their
wounds this time of the year. We get beat over the head because allegedly we
are all against the celebration of Christmas. I guess none of us have spent our
entire lives in Church!
It is easy to blame liberals for
store employees saying "Happy Holidays, as oppossed to Merry Christmas." All
liberals do not align themselves with the ACLU, including myself. I could care
less if someone tells me Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or just
Happy Holidays! It is weak that someone is offended because a person
doesn't know what season greeting that he or she would like to hear. Everyone you meet in
this world will not engage in your religious spirit or lack of it. It is much
easier to say Happy Holidays as a way to be inclusive.
I also have no problem with a nativity
scene in any store or public square that also allows other religious symbols
of celebration. What is wrong with being inconclusive? This does not
destroy the Christmas Spirit. The holiday season was meant to bring
people together and not to tear them apart. Therefore we should respect the
Constitution and allow public displays of our religious freedom.
All liberals do not have an
Anti-Christian message. Believe it or not, many of us have gone to Church since
the time we arrived on earth. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Christianity is alive
and well in the liberal community. It is time to stand up against the
conservative block and be heard, as opposed to remaining silent on the issue.
