An Early Wimbledon Exit for Serena Williams
By: Jason Cunningham

Yesterday it was hard for
me to watch the Serena Williams vs. Jill Craybas, a third round Wimbledon tennis
match. Serena Williams lacked the confidence to win from
the very beginning. I thought it mirrored the Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes fight in the early 1980's.
Even when I hoped Serena would will
her way to a point, Craybas appeared to always have the answer. Craybas went on to a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Serena Williams
because she brought her A game. Serena could
not close out the second set before Craybas forced a 6-6 tie, which led to a
sudden death playoff for the set. Serena faded in the playoff. Unfortunately, the younger Williams sister appeared to be an
athlete on her last leg. I hope this is not the case because her tennis game
often brings a smile to my face.
Craybas will face Serena's older
sister, Venus in their fourth round matchup. Venus would have rather face her
sister but expect the family honor to be on the line, even if it is not stated on the
record. There is no way Venus wants the headline to state the Williams sisters
both fell to Craybas in tennis.
