Reasons to explore more innovative business ideas
Regardless of how much money your business makes, you must
always work to improve your products and/or services. Remember, change can be good.Otherwise, your current customer base might
leave you.
Reality check – a business need to become its customers’ ally
You may have the best product or service on the current
market. But, as a business owner, you
already know that you cannot afford to rest on “your laurels.” Even if you own a product’s patent,
eventually that patent will become obsolete.
In the meanwhile, your closest competitors are working hard to improve
their products and services. Therefore,
the quest to become or remain number one in a particular business sector is
always a never ending battle.
Customers are always looking for a better experience. This does not mean that customers will always
tell the business community what it needs.
For example, many of us could not give up using the internet for only a few
days; however, if you are now at least 50 years old, you probably have not been
using the internet for more than the last 20 years. Prior to the introduction of the internet,
most people just accepted that they could not find current data without
visiting the library, bookstore or newspaper stand.
Be the innovator, never the reactor
As a business owner, it is important to keep an open
mind. A great deal of business
innovation takes places because business leaders listen to their own minds,
their employee’s minds, and their customer’s minds. Therefore, ideas put into action have led to the creation of the personal computer, the internet, and many other products and
services that consumers enjoy daily.
If you are now at least 30 years old, you probably remember
many of the early IBM computer models from the 1980’s. In comparison to today’s computers, the speed
and beauty of those early computer models were lacking. Changes in size and color schemes of
computers did not happen without the creativity of employees, who worked
countless hours to improve the “customer experience.”
Running a reactive business is not ideal. If you are always ten steps behind your
competitors, your business will always remain behind the competition. Many customers are aware of the limitations of
your products and services, especially if another company offers better
products and services at a comparable or lower price. This is why you must constantly improve your
business products and services; as a result, let other companies follow your
lead so that your customers remain confident that you are truly the leader of
your business sector.
