When the economy was doing well, many of us chose not to use store coupons. Hopefully, most people’s attitudes have changed in the last year because of our gloomy economy. If not, individuals are failing to maximize their ability to save money, which may be used to start an emergency fund or investment program.
Do Not Be Too Proud To Save!
As a child, my mom used to have me assist her with clipping store coupons. At the time, I did not understand why my mom was obsessed with coupons. I thought clipping coupons was a useless activity; however, I did not understand my mom’s wisdom, at the time. She saved our family thousands of dollars while I lived in my parents’ household. My late father was always happy with my mom’s ability to save money. Furthermore, you can say that my mom was my first financial planner.
Do not worry if people stare at you when you pull out store coupons. Remember, your goal is to divert money from the store to increase your savings. The person staring at you needs to follow your example. Never be too proud to use coupons, regardless of the economy. Nevertheless, more people are trying to save money now because the economy is in terrible shape. But, how many of these individuals will continue their frugal ways when the economy recovers? Will most people revert to their olds ways of wasteful spending and not using store coupons? It is too early to say!
Analysis
From a young age, my mom taught me how to stretch my dollar further. The use of coupons is my mom’s favorite way to save money outside of a banking institution. Even today, my mom spends her Saturday mornings clipping coupons. This explains why my mom has earned the title of “supersaver.”
