Do not threaten your finance because of romance!

You may be interested in dating someone.  However, you must consider how much the relationship will cost you.  Otherwise, depending on your financial situation, you could threaten your retirement and personal savings by entering and staying in an expensive relationship.

Budget

It is important to create a budget before buying a new home or starting a new relationship.  Yes, your date money must be included in your budget.  You would be surprised how much money you can spend in a month by going on two to three weekly dates.  A nice dinner that includes a few glasses of wine can cost you $100.00 or more, depending on the quality of the restaurant.

Remember, living paycheck to paycheck can catch up with you.  In the future, you will have unexpected expense that requires your immediate attention.  For example, a car engine repair can cost you a $1,000.00 or more. Unfortunately, some cities do not have great public transportation; as a result, in such cities, you will definitely need a vehicle to get to work.

Some people are too costly

Some people want to be spoiled beyond your financial means.  These individuals may desire for you to drive a car that costs at least $35,000.  But, you may be two or three years out of undergraduate college.  Due to current income level, you do not desire to take your dates to 4 star or 5 star restaurants.  You can use that extra money to pay down your debt because you plan to attend a top-notch graduate school in a few years.

Sometimes you need to end a relationship before it gets too serious.  Every person you meet will not share your financial philosophy.  Therefore, even if you start making a six figure income, you may not want to spend $500.00 or more in a month for dates.  Instead, find someone else who wants to rent a movie and order a pizza on Saturday evening!

Conclusion

Do not allow dating to destroy your financial future.  You never know when something will break down and require an immediate repair, such as a car engine.  It is okay to end a dating relationship if you believe this person is too expensive for wallet.
