The countdown has begun to Superbowl XLIII. The annual NFL Championship game will feature the AFC Pittsburgh Steelers versus the NFC Arizona Cardinals. While it is probably too late to make radical changes to this year’s Superbowl, this is my list of changes that will make future Superbowl games better.
1.
The Battle of the Bands at Halftime – Since Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake were involved in the Superbowl XXXVIII “boob shot” seen around the world, the Superbowl halftime shows have been boring. It is time to add some college football bands to the halftime show! Who does not want to see Grambling, Southern or Central State University’s band during the halftime show? It’s the Superbowl people; it’s supposed to be exciting from beginning to end.
2.
Less Commercials about Erectile Dysfunction - Who wants to eat Superbowl dinner while hearing about erectile dysfunction? I don’t think so. Besides, there are millions of children watching the Superbowl. What should parents say to their children if they ask about ED?
3.
A Battle of the Cheerleaders - Why should the cheerleaders stand on the sidelines for the entire game? Let them compete for the Superbowl Cheerleading Trophy or something else. Take ten minutes to have the competition before the start of the fourth quarter.
4.
Celebrity Singing after the First and Second Quarters - Most of us will need time to use the bathroom during the Superbowl. If not, you can enjoy a popular singer, such as Beyonce or Justin Timberlake, while others use the bathroom or look for more cheese dip. Even if your children are not into the Superbowl game, they probably will enjoy a popular singer or two. Besides, the NFL can find a corporation to sponsor it!
5.
A Word from President Obama – We need to get a message from President Obama before the start of the Superbowl via simulcast. President Obama has proven that he can hype up the crowd, and he will provide both teams with words of wisdom that money can’t buy.
6.
Superbowl Game Starts at 5:30PM EST – Most children have school the next day. And the majority of adults are scheduled to work the day after the Superbowl. Why not move the game up to 5:30 P.M. EST? Otherwise, Congress can consider making the next day a National Holiday!
Can you think of other suggestions? See if you can compile a list of Superbowl improvements and compare your list to other people’s lists.
