GMAT
Why you need to be careful writing about the GMAT?

In my opinion, it is a great idea to write about your GMAT experience.  For one, you can accurately document what you will study on a daily basis.  In addition, you can talk about your daily triumphs and struggles.  However, I must warn you that some people with a hidden agenda may contact you, if you decide to write online about your GMAT experience.

In this world, there are some people that make a living by taking advantage of others.  These individuals would love to make a buck from your GMAT experience.  As a result, do not be surprised if you are contacted by unknown GMAT preparatory companies that want you to evaluate their preparatory books.  This can be an unwanted distraction.  Besides, you must know that these companies want you to help promote their study guides.

Last year, several companies contacted me about writing book reviews about their GMAT preparatory materials.  I must admit; I wrote a few reviews.  Some of these companies must have been created in the last few years; I had not heard of them.  A few of these companies did not have book listed on Amazon.  Some of these companies promised to tutor me throughout my GMAT journey.  Trust me; it is a trick.  One company wanted me to post online that I had already scored 700 on the “real” GMAT.”  Committing fraud is not something that I want on my resume, so I declined to lie.

I am not saying that you should not write an online review about a GMAT class or GMAT book that helped you to get into graduate business school.  Wait until after your GMAT exam to sing the praises of GMAT preparatory companies.  In the process, you may not want to praise those companies after you sit for the GMAT.  However, once you write something online, there is a permanent record of your words, even if you erase those words from that webpage or blog.  Learn from my mistake; do not fall for people attempting to profit from your GMAT success.
