Throughout the internet, you will find numerous websites that advertise online insurance leads. While each of these insurance websites claims to be unique, most insurance agents prefer to focus on the quality of these insurance leads. Many of these agents are not aware that “insurance leads” is a popular search term on search engines such as Google.
Why Some Agents Love Insurance Leads?
Some insurance agents are not comfortable with canvassing businesses. In many cases, if the agent sees a no solicitation sign on the business’s door, then he or she will likely leave the company’s grounds without attempting to speak to a decision maker. Unfortunately, this might have been a potential sale for the insurance agent if he or she had left at least a business card.
Other insurance agents have a fear of cold calling. Furthermore, there are now federal and state laws that prohibit salespersons from soliciting individuals on “the do not call lists,” unless the person has given prior permission to do so. To be honest, I had a serious cold-calling phobia. In most cases, people yelled at me before hanging up their phones. By the end of day, I prayed for a profitable target market, so I could avoid cold-calling on Saturday mornings.
Finally, there are insurance agents who are good at selling insurance, but they forget to ask for referrals. Do you wonder why these agents not asking for referrals can create a problem? On a weekly basis, these agents may have fewer appointments than other successful agents. Agents that make 15 to 20 appointments per week tend to be more successful than agents that make fewer appointments per week.
Unfortunately, fear can cause an insurance agent to lose dollars. In the above mentioned cases, each insurance agent did not prosper because of his or her fears concerning canvassing, cold-calling, and asking for referrals. While buying online insurance leads does not guarantee success in the insurance industry, some agents feel more comfortable with online insurance leads. For one, buying online insurance leads is not the equivalent of cold calling. Individuals must fill out an online insurance quote request at a particular website. In addition, most individuals that fill out an online insurance request really want to discuss their insurance needs (i.e., life insurance planning for their estate or annuities for their retirement). Therefore, in general, insurance agents will be more relaxed on the phone when they are speaking to an online insurance lead as opposed to a cold-calling prospect.
Analysis
Buying online insurance leads can help insurance agents to generate leads. Unlike cold-calling prospects, online insurance leads are usually individuals that want to explore their insurance options. As an insurance agent, if you fear cold calling or canvassing, you need to look at online insurance leads as a viable source of leads.
