ESPN's Baseball Tonight Is Awful Without
Harold Reynolds
By: Jason Cunningham (7/29/2006)
These are miserable times for fans
of baseball. For a couple of weeks, we have watched ESPN's Baseball Tonight
without Harold Reynolds. Unfortunately, the network let him go after he was
accused of sexual harassment in the workplace.
None of us knows what really
happened. However, a hug may have been the final straw, as ESPN officials fired
former TV analyst Harold Reynolds. For the network's sake, ESPN should give the
man his job back, if the situation was not caused by a deliberate act, which
warranted dismal.
I think ESPN has
underestimated the power of Harold Reynolds. By now, the ratings for Baseball
Tonight have to be in a slump. Reynolds was the show, and without Peter Gammons,
who is in the hospital, ESPN's coverage of baseball isn't as good as the local
news. I never envisioned such a day would come.
Nevertheless, ESPN has a
decision to make. I am sure that Harold Reynolds has plenty of job offers.
However, ESPN does not have a talented analyst like Harold Reynolds.
