The Browns' WR Braylon Edwards
Is a Bust!
By: Jason Cunningham (10/29/2005)
The hype over WR Braylon Edwards before
and after the 2005 NFL Draft was not worth the ink on the paper. As the third
pick in the Draft, the Cleveland Browns expected to see an immediate impact, but
Edwards has missed four games and only one breakout game in his short NFL
career.
A lot of people I have talked to
believe it is too early to judge Braylon Edwards. I disagree because there has
only been one game in which he showed anything, other than the ability of second
WR. Honestly, Edwards will probably get you 60 catches a season and 750 yards,
however this is hardly worth the third pick in the Draft.
Braylon Edwards just does not bring
that kind of threat like Indianapolis Colt' receivers Marvin Harrison and Reggie
Wayne. He may be able to beat up on sorry NFL teams because of his size, but
than again one decent game against the Green Bay Packers means nothing
this year.
The Cleveland Browns will stand behind
Edwards, yet it must be said that they might do better by trading him to attempt
to get USC's WR Reggie Bush in next year's NFL Draft. Oh well, Braylon you are
still on my bust list, hopefully you get off the box real soon.
