Browns Lee Suggs Starting RB

By: Jason Cunningham (September 07, 2004)

Gee it was no surprise to the common person that Cleveland Browns' running back Lee Suggs would be named starting RB. Let us face it, the other option, William Green, while he has great potential is not dependable because of recent off the field problems.

Look the Cleveland Browns have one goal this season, make the playoffs. Otherwise Browns Coach Butch Davis will cause the initial jobless claims in January 2005, to increase by one. Running back Lee Suggs has explosive speed and is more agile than William Green. The Browns have not seen consistent run blocking from the offensive line over the last two seasons, therefore a speed back is more appealing than the power game William Green can bring you.

Even though Lee Suggs is currently battling a neck stinger, a missed start by him should not give William Green the starting running back position if he performs well. Suggs needs to get 20 touches a games, Green gets 8-10 runs, and the Browns should find a way to win 8 games. I know that Browns fan are probably upset by this assertion, but honesty is important.

One thing the Browns' organization must not do is trade or entertain the idea of trading either running back. Let William Green be your insurance policy, just in case Lee Suggs suffers a serious injury that will keep him out of a game. Hopefully this will not occur, but injuries are a part of the NFL experience.
