Bush has a New
Partner: The Democrats
by: Jason Cunningham
(11-8-2006)
President Bush can no longer depend on a Republican controlled House
of Representatives. It should have been no surprise that the
Democrats were able to gain the House; however, the Republicans,
including President Bush had to be disappointed in the outcome.
Over the next two
years, it will be interesting to see what legislature comes across
President Bush's desk. It is still not clear which party will
control the Senate. The Senate race in Virginia appears to be headed
to a possible recount unless incumbent Republican George Allen
concedes. Regardless of the Virginia race, each party has to court
Independent elected Senator Joe Lieberman's vote.
"The political
capital references" of President Bush after his 2004 Presidential
re-election seem like ancient history. It is time for Bush to come
to the center. Democrats and Republicans must work together to bring
peace in Iraq and the rest of the world.
