Cedric Benson Signs With the
Bears!
By: Jason Cunningham (8/29/2005)
The days of speculation have ended for
Bears' Cedric Benson. He signed a five year deal with the team, and is now
official. After being the last first round draft pick yet to sign, Benson
appeared to prove the critics correct that he is a great talent with
questionable character.
The signing of Chicago Bears' Benson
signifies a changing of the guards. Running back Thomas Jones had to be positive
about starting the season at RB, but Benson is now in camp and has youth on his
side. Benson, a rookie from Texas University is a gifted back in the tradition
of Miami Dolphins' Ricky Williams, before his drug problems sidelined his
career.
Well the Bears will not be concerned about
their running back situation. It is one position that has all of the necessary
parts. If the Bears want to deliver the one two punch, then teams around the
league need to be prepared for tired defensive lineman come to fourth quarter.
In my opinion, Benson will be starting by the third game of the season. We will
see the season unfold starting next Thursday. The Bears should do fine
this season and could make the playoffs with a decent defense and a solid
running attack.
