The Colts Will Have A Tough
One Against the Seahawks
By: Jason Cunningham (12/24/2005)
Tragedy has hit home for the
Indianapolis Colts' family. The son of Head Coach Tony Dungy, James, 18 years
old, died earlier this week, so today the Colts will be without their head
coach, in order to deal with his loss. Also several starters including WR Marvin
Harrison and LB Cato June did not make the trip to Seattle.
I honestly think the Colts will play
hard today, however without starters Ryan Diem, Marvin Harrison, Cato June,
Robert Mathis, Bob Sanders, Monte Reagan, and Corey Simon, but they do not stand
much of a chance. This would have been a tough matchup against the Seattle
Seahawks, regardless of Dungy's absence or the missing starters. While the Colts
are professionals, it is human nature that their hearts and minds will focused
on the Dungy family, as they will not see Tony Dungy's stoic pose on the
sidelines today. I really hope this is competitive for three quarters, because
they owe their coach a solid effort, despite seven starters not being able to
play.
Many believe this will be a preview of
this season's Superbowl in Detroit, MI. Both teams have clinched home field
advantage throughout their conference playoffs. While neither team will probably
feature their starters much, we still should expect smash mouth football. Do not
expect Seattle Seahawks' Head Coach Mike Holmgren to let up on the Colts if they
are leading by a big margin; fortunately something tells me the Indianapolis
team will play inspired football.
Ours thoughts and prayers go out to the Coach
Dungy family and the Indianapolis Colts' organization.
