The Denver Broncos Under the
Radar All Season
By: Jason Cunningham (1/21/2006)
It is amazing that a team that wins 13
NFL regular season games not be mentioned as a Superbowl favorite. The Denver
Broncos have been an underdog all year. They have had to live in the shadow of
the Indianapolis Colts who won their first 13 games and the two-time defending
Superbowl Champions, the New England Patriots.
Today, the Denver Broncos will host the
AFC Championship versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, for the right to play in
Superbowl XL. The Broncos won 13 games without people giving them respect.
When most sportswriters wrote previews for the AFC Playoffs, they failed to give
the Denver Broncos much of a chance. The Indianapolis Colts had already been
anointed as the as the AFC representative, for this season's Superbowl. Maybe
this helped the Denver Broncos achieve their 13 regular season wins and
Divisional Playoff victory over the New England Patriots. The Broncos felt less
pressured, because the Colts were under the microscope.
The Broncos have not lost a home game
in the 2005-2006 season. Therefore the Denver Broncos may be playing in
Superbowl XL. There should no extra pressure on the Broncos to win versus the
Pittsburgh Steelers. Nobody really gave the Broncos much of a chance.
