Did the New York Times' Article
Threaten National Security?
By: Jason Cunningham (12/18/2005)
I think we need to wake up in America.
The fact that we are discussing whether Newsweek's article concerning President
Bush's authorization of electronic surveillance this Sunday morning threaten
National Security, is beyond the realm of reason.
Does President Bush believe the people
of the United States and our so called "enemies of our country" are
gullible? To
New York Times' credit, who does not know
our government investigates us and other through electronic surveillance? How
do think they gather intelligence on folks or verify information that informants
gave us? No one is just getting information about an impending terrorist attack
by accident! The fact that President Bush ordered surveillance on certain people
in this country since 9-11, should be no surprise. I honestly believe most
Americans knew that eavesdropping was real, not just something on a episode of
X-Files or other similar shows involving government agencies.
If anything,
the
New York Times' just brought the rest of the Americans out of the stone
age, who still believe "Big Brother," the government is not watching them. I
really doubt that "enemies of our country" never
suspected that President Bush's Administration was attempting to spy on their
possible attack missions against American interests. Our National Security has
not been compromised by the New York Times' Article, because specific
investigations that are or may be going on, have not been revealed.
As long as the Bush Administration does
not decide to investigate individuals due to unpopular speech, then I can
understand the possible, private intrusion, as a consequence of protecting our
National Security. People are no longer clueless in regards to what governments
may do, in order to protect the Nation. Give us some credit, and there is no
reason to attack the New York Times on this article.
