Dumbest Sports
Quote in History!
By: Jason Cunningham (06/17/2005)
Some once asked me what did I believe to be the dumbest
quote in sports history. I really did not take a lot of thought to come up with
an answer to the question. It can only be, "It's not whether you win or lose,
but how you play the game."
I really don't know who first said the infamous quote.
However no one should listen to him or her. The quote allows you to accept
losing. "Oh well if I come in second place, I went out and competed." Get
yourself a training program and stick to it to the best of your ability.
Remember if you talk yourself into becoming a loser, then it will hard to change
that path once the road is paved.
Sports is an extension of the business
world. If you fail to work hard while participating in sport, then maybe this
deficiency will follow you to work. Look I do not know you personally, but
sports can be grueling, tiresome, and teach you to take your body further than
you believed possible. By cheapening your efforts by patting you on the back and
stating, "it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game,"
should not uplift you. It can be a crippling statement for kids to follow. It
does not promote leadership but mediocrity in the face of defeat. So stop using
the quote.
