Equality in the Workplace
By: Jason Cunningham
It is important to understand that equality
is a God given right. It extends beyond our home and into our workplace. As an
employer, it is important to resolve all issues that present a problem.
No one wants to work for an employer that
purposely, treats some better than others. Equality is necessary to create a
stable, work environment. When all feel that they are valued, in the workplace,
you as an employer will have less disputes to resolve. On the other hand,
individuals become suspicious when their employer seems to favor other
employees. The only work environment where this probably is not the case, would
be a pure sales job.
Salaries can be a debatable issue in
Corporate America. If your women and men are not getting paid similar salaries,
based on experience, you have a right as an employee to be
angry. The argument that the men negotiated their contracts better, may not hold
up in court. Efforts should be made, so that salaries on based on experience.
When disputes arise, employers must be willing to take all facts in
consideration and be fair. Through careful dispute resolution, many times a
court case can be avoided. When your firm suffers a blow to their self-image,
all are affected, including the innocent.
The many faces of American are forever
changing. People from throughout the world, work here in the states. It is
important that we extend the olive branch to all. Discrimination based on race,
religion, or looks has no place in America. Attempts should be made to
accommodate others so that we can all stand on equal grounds. If you know more
about ocean marine insurance, and your co-work from Thailand is an expert
in margin accounts, then share your knowledge. American must stand together or
become irrelevant. We should want all to succeed, leaving no one behind,
especially at the workplace.
