Ethics in Business

It is always a good idea to be honest in all
business dealings. This should include those who purchase services
and products and your own employees. While making money is the
general goal of any company, your reputation can be severely
hindered by not acting ethically.
What is being fair in business? At least on a
quarterly basis, each business should evaluate every aspect of its
dealings with customers, distributors, and marketing campaigns to
the general public. It is important to attract interest in your
company's products and services, but do not promise more than you
can deliver. If it going to be 3 to 5 business days for shipping,
let your sales material on the web or in the store reflect this
information. Also, test the validity of your product's claims before
it is made available to the public. All companies should be
embarrassed to appear in the public, as being less than honest.
Making money can cause some to bend the rules. Over
the past ten years, we have witness a slew of corporate corruptions.
In the end, a jury of their peers believed that some of these
individuals deserved long jail sentences and enormous fines. It is
just not worth it. We should all play by the rules and follow good
ethic standards.
Employees can get ripped off by their company. In
the area of sales, this is probably more likely to happen.
Businesses should pay all residuals or commissions on time. Most
businesses are already aware that it is hard to find quality people
in sales.
Business ethics are important. It establishes good
practices for dealing with the general public and your employees.
Stay away from hyping up a service or product that cannot deliver.
Most importantly, do not allow the desire to make money interfere
with sound business judgment, which could put you behind bars.
