Finding A Niche In the
Insurance Business
By: Jason Cunningham (2-8-2006)
If there one
thing an insurance agent needs, it is people to see on a daily basis. It is a
vital part of your job. Insurance products do not sell themselves; therefore, you
need to find a comfortable market.
How do you find a niche in
the insurance business? First of all, who do you see on a daily basis? You must
first analyze your target market and ask why are they interested in your
services. Once you understand the data, it should give you an idea of what
financial product to
use as a door opener. Maybe you have a good affinity with doctors since you
attended medical school or majored in a science related field? If so, what does the
average one of them need, possibly disability insurance or long term care
insurance. In order to further market your services, try to belong to a
physician organization for non-members or spend the majority of your time as a trusted advisor
Without a good
marketing plan, you will probably be out of the insurance business sooner than
later. Always be on the lookout for new groups to offer your services to; however,
never forget about what works for you. The ole saying, "if it isn't broke, then
don't try to fix it" is very true. All the best wishes and much success in the
insurance business.
