I am Surprised Texas beat USC!
By: Jason Cunningham (1/5/2005)
I did not expect Texas University to
beat the University of Southern California. Texas quarterback Vince Young proved
me wrong twice this season. Even after defeating the Ohio State University, I
questioned whether Texas could win the National Championship at the Rose Bowl.
Everyone assumed the USC would make it
to their third straight National Championship Game. The only question would be
who were they going to host. I thought it would the Ohio State University, until
they lost to Texas. Penn State did not avoid a devastating loss to Michigan.
Texas, a team without their great running back, Cedric Benson, who was draft in
2005 Draft, still managed to get to big game. Texas was victorious in every
game.
Last night, Vince Young played like a
Greek god. He was a better leader on the field than his counterpart, USC's
quarterback Matt Leinart. It was a surprise that Texas won over USC 41-38, but
they deserved to be victorious. They made less mistakes than USC, and executed
better on the offensive and defensive fronts. The country now knows that Texas
is better than USC. If they played today, I think Texas would win again.
