Indiana Bracey Wright Chosen
in 2nd Round
By: Jason Cunningham (6/29/2005)
The seventeenth pick of the second round
belonged to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and with that pick they selected
University of Indiana's star guard, Bracey Wright. The junior probably hoped
thought he would go higher in the round, but it was not to be.
Bracey Wright leaving Indiana leaves a lot of holes
in a team, whose coach, Mike Davis may packing after this season unless the
Hoosiers go deep in the NCAA Tournament. One problem I see with Wright's game is
that there was minimum improvement between his freshman and junior year. Maybe
it was his coaching or his sometimes lack of durability. He missed some games
throughout his college years, due to injury.
However the Minnesota Timberwolves may have found the
Milwaukee Bucks' Michael Redd of the draft. Bracey was a good defensive
player in college, and that goes a lot further in the NBA, because it keeps you
employed longer. He also has a consistent jumper and the ability to create his
own shot. Keep in mind, Bracey Wright did average over 18 points a game, in the
tough Big Ten both in his sophomore and junior year. Wright will prove to be a
great pick.
