The Indianapolis Pacers are Looking Different Already!

By: Jason Cunningham (7/23/2006)

In recent years,  the Pacers have struggled to get the NBA Finals.  Nobody should have thought the Indianapolis Pacers would not make some off-season trades or acquisitions, in order to change their fortunes. They have already traded Austin Croshere and Peja Stojakovic, and more trades appear certain.

The Indianapolis Pacers have been an organization with talent throughout this century. Unfortunately, they have not accomplished their goal of reaching and winning the NBA Title. Pacers fan still cringe at the "Brawl at the Palace" in the 2004 season. The incident caused the loss of then Pacers' star Ron Artest and long-term suspensions for Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson. It was a disaster for a season the Pacers thought would result in a NBA Championship.

It now appears the Pacers are looking for an even more upbeat team. In this off-season, they have already acquired former Dallas Mavericks Marquis Daniels and Boston Celtic Orien Greene. It is almost certain that Pacers point guard Anthony Johnson is on his way to Dallas for the services of their back-up Darrell Armstrong and a couple of throw in players. Maybe former Pacers player Al Harrington will be back in the "circle city" this fall.

The Pacers are desperate and on life support. I doubt President Larry Bird and Coach Rich Carlyle will be back next season, unless the Pacers reach the Eastern Conference Finals. This is why the team has been so busy in the off-season.
