Is there a Hidden
Meaning Behind Commander-in-Chief TV Show?
By: Jason Cunningham (7-30-2005)
By now, everyone in America who watches TV should have
seen a promo for ABC's
"Commander-in-Chief," which is a new show for the fall
season. The show stars Geena Davis, who is the
Vice-President of the United States, Mackenzie Allen, but
will soon elevate to the position of President.
I wonder if this show is preparing American for a woman President.
Probably, someone will e-mail me that Fox's hit show, "24"
has an African-American President. Believe me, I am aware of
the fact, however President Palmer played by
Dennis
Haysbert on "24," is not the star of the show.
Geena
Davis will be the focal point of "Commander-in-Chief,"
otherwise the promos for the show have me fooled. The
parallels between NY Senator Hillary Clinton and Geena
Davis' character will probably begin before the first
episode. I would guess that 80% of Americans believe Senator
Clinton will run for President in 2008. So hopefully the
show is a good teaching tool that helps individuals realize
that a woman can do the job of President of our Great
Nation.
