Marcus Vick Is Dismissed from Virginia
Tech Football Team
By: Jason Cunningham (1/6/2005)
Did former quarterback Marcus Vick
have it bad at Virginia Tech? Other than playing in his bother's shadow, the
younger Vick broke several laws and let his anger get the best of him on the
field. Today, he finds himself dismissed from the team and now appears set to
enter the NFL Draft.
Marcus Vick has more football
potential in his left toe, than most of could ever dream. Yet over the last
couple of years, the younger Vick has been suspended for giving underage girls
alcohol and arrested several times; including for reckless driving and marijuana
possession. The culmination of these incidents and stomping an opposing player
in the Gator Bowl, now have left Vick with no other choice but to turn pro. His
brother, Michael had made Virginia Tech the "home of the Vicks," however the
junior Marcus Vick has betrayed this shrine. Marcus was given chance after
chance to reform. Due to his actions, present and future players at
Virginia Tech probably will not get a second opportunity.
Now, I am not sure that Marcus is ready
to be a quarterback in the NFL. He was not always consistent in reading the pass
coverage. Marcus, missing the entire 2004 season due to a suspension is not good
for his image. If he is taken before the fourth round of the NFL Draft, I
will be very surprised.
I think Marcus will get his life back
on track. The media can portray him in a negative light. A lot of good
people make bad choices and it appears Marcus Vick has made a few. Good luck in
the NFL.
