The Miami Heat Disappoint in
Game 7
By: Jason Cunningham (6/07/2005)
Twenty-four hours ago, you could not
have convinced me that the Miami Heat would lose game seven of the NBA Eastern
Conference Finals. However, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Heat 88-82, and
will begin their quest for a second straight NBA Championship on Thursday night
versus the San Antonio Spurs, in the NBA Finals.
Heat guard, Dwayne Wade returned to action last
night, scoring 20 points, but none in the fourth quarter, if which the Heat were
outscored 24-16. Missed opportunities in the fourth quarter led to the Heat's
demise. They just could not extend the lead to eight points, and this cost them.
A few times down the floor Shaq was not given the ball in the post, and they
were unable to convert. Piston's forward Rasheed Wallace was 8 of 13 from the
field, so the big man had his way with the Heat, finishing with 20 points in the
game.
Even after Heat forward Eddie Jones' buzzer beater
at the end of the first half, the team lacked the intensity it showed earlier in
the series. They led for a long time in the second half, but you just had to
feel that the Pistons could take over at anytime, and in the end, they defeated
the Miami Heat.
