Pacers' Ron Artest Wants to Be Traded!

By: Jason Cunningham (12/12/2005)

It was a shocker to read the Indianapolis Star story, yesterday concerning Pacers' star Ron Artest, who wants to be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers or the New York Knicks. Given that he only played in seven games last season, you think he might have a little more loyalty to a team that has seemed to always stand behind him.

In five seasons with the Indianapolis Pacers, Artest has been an extraordinary player on the basketball court. However he has not been an angel, and from time to time manages to get suspended by the NBA or his team for his behavior. Last year Artest decided to go on the Today Show to promote his CD, while he was suspended.

I say the Pacers should trade him. He is a distraction that is subject to self-destruct at any moment. I have always tried to defend Artest and some of his silly antics, however enough is enough. If he does not want to be part of the team, then grant him his wish.
