Building A Moral Society: Chapter 1

Parental Guidance

By: Jason Cunningham

Our society holds the rights of children on the same level as adults. Parents of children under the age of eighteen must be held to reasonable standard for actions of their children, and take care of them. Lack of parental guidance is criminal, and punishment may be in order.

Parental guidance is a duty that is held in high esteem.  It is the opinion of the state that children cannot be expected to take care of themselves as adults until the age of eighteen Parents must be responsible for food, clothing, moral development, and aide in the security and learning of the child. These duties cover the basic necessities and are not subject to negotiations. Those who are found to violate these rules of parental guidance will be prosecuted but allowed a fair trial.

No child should be going to bed hungry. A child that does not eat well, may struggle in school and lack energy. Therefore it is the duty of any citizen to report such findings to  the local authorities. Since we are a moral society, our goal is not to arrest the parents, but to interview and make sure they have enough money to feed their child. If it is the opinion of the state that the parent's income does not afford the child to eat balanced meals, we will provide mandatory training, so that in a year the family will not be in the same condition. Our goal is to have all parents with good parental skills in mind.

Clothing should be considered no less than food. This state invites those with clothes they no longer want, to donate them to one of our offices. Any child that appears on our streets with holes or rags must be invited to the state's clothing office. Parents are also required to meet with an income counselor, as would a child that goes hungry.

Safety and the education of your child go hand and hand. Your home must be made safe, so that one child may unknowingly injure themselves. Parental guidance is necessary, educate your child concerning those inherent dangers in one's home including, but not limited to hot stoves, wires, cleaning solutions, and sockets.

A parent must also take an interest in the schooling and moral development of a child. It should  be said that a better educated child has a more likelihood of monetary success in life. Our state values education, and therefore are ready to spend surplus money on better technological devices to help children learn. Parents should not expect teachers to alone educate your child, you should also take great pride and help your child as needed. Since this is not a religious state, faith is not taught in our schools. However our mention of God in school in philosophical in nature.  Therefore a parent must teach moral development in their own home, and  without any teaching that violating those of our beloved, moral state.

If a parent has a child that violates our laws more than one time, than a mandatory counseling session is required of the child and parents. If it is determined that the child is just neglected, then the parents will be arrested and face trial, otherwise the state will provide help for the parents, including protection for the child. Parental guidance of any of the named offenses above could include a fine of $10,000 and jail sentence of 5 years.
