Is Sacramento's Anthony Peeler's Suspension
Unfair?
By: Jason Cunningham
Everyone either saw it or
heard about "the elbow heard around the world." Sacramento's Kings Guard,
Anthony Peeler landed a crushing elbow to the face of Minnesota's Timberwolves, Kevin Garnett.
Well the NBA has decided to suspend Peeler for the next two games for his
efforts, while Garnett who also elbowed Peeler was fined $7,500.
This is really unfair to the Sacramento
Kings. It is sending a message that NBA superstars like Kevin Garnett, who
basically brought it on himself, can do what they want in the playoffs. If you
are going to suspend Peeler for two games, then Garnett deserves a one game
suspension. Peeler reacted to Garnett elbowing him. Why even bother to suspend
Peeler? Just fine him $50,000 and call it a day.
Maybe one day the league will get it right.
However until that day comes, the NBA will be known as the league that gives its
superstars a golden pass. Even if Anthony Peeler does not have a positive image
around the league as would a Garnett, he is still a veteran player, and does not
deserve to be mistreated as some chump.
