The Phoenix Suns
Extinguish the LA Lakers
By: Jason Cunningham (5/06/2006)
Game Seven of the LA Lakers and
Phoenix Suns was supposed to be a great game. It never materialized. The Lakers
lost to the Suns by a score of 121-90.
Once upon a time, the LA
Lakers had a 3-1 lead in the best of seven series versus the Phoenix Suns. Not
only did the Suns come back and tie the series, they won the remaining three
games, thus sending the LA Lakers home to pack. In the end, the Lakers could not
overcome the Suns that woke up after Game Four of the first round NBA Playoffs
series.
Let's face it, Kobe Bryant
cannot carry the entire team. Last night proved the point. Kobe was held to just
one point in the second half of the game, but he finished with twenty-four
points. The Lakers allowed the Suns to shoot over sixty-percent from the field.
It was a pitiful Game Seven performance by the Lakers.
The Suns were led by great
performances from Leandro
Barbosa, who finished with twenty-six points and Boris Diaw's twenty-one
points. They helped the blue collar team
from Phoenix extinguish the big city LA team from the playoffs.
