The Pistons Hire A New Coach
By: Jason Cunningham (7/21/2005)
Flip Saunders, the coach who was ran out of Minnesota
last year, is now the coach of the Detroit Pistons. In 9 1/2 seasons in
Minnesota, he reached the playoffs 8 times. So the Detroit Pistons should feel
fortunate that man of his credential was still on the coaching block.
It should be a good fit for Saunders, he is now
reunited with one of his former point guards in Minnesota, Chauncey Billups, who
is the leader of the Detroit Pistons. Flip is also aided by the fact that the
Pistons are a proven team, representing the Eastern Conference in the last two
NBA Finals, and winning the title of the 2003-2004 playoffs.
Pistons at this moment may feel slighted by former coach
Larry Brown, however if Flip Saunders is able to motivate and coach the team to
a good record, then the people will move on. Only time will tell if Saunders is
the right man for the job.
