Reasons for Group Health
Insurance
by Jason Cunningham (7/8/2005)
Most of us go to the doctor on a yearly basis.
Also, most of us are employed by someone else. Generally speaking, a
majority of us have health insurance, because our jobs have a group health
insurance plan.
In recent years, some companies are offering less
medical health benefits for retirees, and are requiring current employees to pay
a higher percentage of the premium. The higher costs
for health insurance can be contributed to a number of things including higher
medical costs, more required medical services due to illness, etc.
Nevertheless, group health insurance may be the only
way for you to qualify for a full blown health coverage plan. Maybe you are
diabetic or have cancer, then you probably know that nearly in every case, you
would be denied for individual health insurance. Also, many companies with group
health insurance will include maturity right away, however you should check your
policy. For if you bought an individual health insurance policy with
maternity, a year would need to pass, before you would be eligible for group
health insurance.
Some employers may look at group health insurance as
a painful expense, however most people are attracted to companies that offer
benefits. Health coverage is usually the number one benefit that prospective
employees are looking for, therefore do not just ignore their concern.
