Our moral state must strive for
religious freedom for its citizens. This is a fundamental right and one that the
republic should always hold in high esteem. It is our responsibility that we
create laws that reflect the serious nature of this right and protect an individual's
rights to practice their own religion.
How can a moral society promote religious
freedom without itself getting entrenched in a religious debate? The republic
must abstain from religious ideology, and never promote any religious doctrine.
It may be true that some of thoughts and laws come out of certain religious
traditions, however these are laws of humanity and not meant to be spiritual in
nature. The application of laws we generally use is philosophical in nature and
reasoning, however far from religious fervor.
By not promoting a religious agenda, the
state can flourish within its own individualism. The body of the republic gains
momentum towards becoming a "moral society" because it citizens are not
restricted in their practice of faith nor access to their religious endeavors.
It is the position of the state that no citizen's faith be questioned, unless
its rules directly conflict with laws that cause physical or psychological harm
any "reasonable person" in our community.
No one religion will ever threaten the order
or rule of our state. We are not against religion in any manner, and believe it
is usually a good basis for quality citizens. Most teach its followers to have a
respect for God our Creator, and love for those living in our state. However it
is not prudent for officials or governing bodies of the republic to show
favoritism or give homage to any religion while in official duty as a
representative of the state. It is our duty to appear honest and fair in the
lives of those we lead and serve. Unscrupulous behavior including taking bribes
for prompting a particular religion is a mistake and will eventually destroy
the state before it reaches adulthood. What are government people do in their
lives as private citizens is their business.
Many have died for nothing more than a disagreement, and
our "moral state" must stand up to the challenge and protect its own. So called
religious zealots who persecute others, because they view others as heathens for
different beliefs, will be punished for own criminal behavior. Building a "moral
state" is the duty of our government, and the cornerstone of our founding
principle. Your religious leader is responsible for your "soul" and "faith,"
while we stand firm behind our commitment to your earthly needs and protection.
Your religious freedom will always be
protected by this "moral state." Those who attempt to destroy your access to
worship or prevent it can only be tried in our courts of law. Any individual who
attempts to take justice in their own hands, may find judgment that is swift and
severe. These circumstances in either case must be handled with care and not
pushed to the side. Our way of life will not be threatened by those who use
religion to get their way. The government fights for its children, and your free
development religiously, spiritually, physically and mentally are ingredients
can be achieved in our society, because you are allowed to think and believe as
you wish, without the threat of being oppressed.
