Stop Comparing QB Vince Young to Michael Vick!

By: Jason Cunningham (7/29/2006)

The comparison game has already started for Tennessee Titans' quarterback Vince Young. In recent weeks, several people in the media have stated that Young need not play this season; otherwise, his passing game will be like Atlanta Falcons' Michael Vick.

In my opinion, the only similarities between Vince Young and Michael Vick are the fact both are African American and throw left-handed. Vick appears to be much faster than Vince Young, while Young is a lot bigger, and can run you over, unlike Vick. It is unfair to say that Young lacks the passing touch to be a good NFL quarterback. A few years, when I wrote my NFL Preview article, I said Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger would win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Some people thought I had lost my mind. All Vince Young needs to do is learn the offense. He reads defenses a lot better than what people think. Young is no Akili Smith.

Let Vince Young's play on the field be the final judgment. He has not thrown a pass in the NFL, and people are already saying he is not ready. Do not be surprised if the Titans start Young by game nine of the NFL season. If the Tennessee Titans did not have veteran quarterbacks Billy Volek and Kerry Collins, I would be willing to say Vince Young would start the first game. Just get off the man's back.
