At the 2004 Superbowl, Janet Jackson's left breast was partly exposed as a result of singer, Justin Timberlake tearing off part of her outfit. A star shaped jewelry covered her nipple from the TV audience and CBS's cameras turned away quickly.

The Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake incident clearly was a shocking moment in television, because it came so unexpectedly. Most people didn't see it happen live, they heard about it later that night or the next day on the news. Probably most people didn't realize the act happened at the end of their performance.

This Superbowl halftime performance has been talked more about in the media than the great game played on the field between the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers. Parents, Churches, Ministers, the NFL, and the FCC Chairman Powell has expressed outrage and called for an investigation. Those parents who are so mad at Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake should be mad at themselves. There was provocative dancing when Janet came out by herself, also in P.Diddy and Nelly performance, so you really should have turned the channel at any of those points and mandated a restroom break! The NFL has a valid point, they would not approve of that act between Janet and Justin, but some of the commercials CBS showed needed to viewed before they aired. Oh yeah aren't NFL cheerleaders basically naked, and some of their routines as sexual as Janet Jackson's grinding of Justin Timberland.

While I do agree with the ploy between the artists was not done in the right venue ( say a music award show), but we are taking this too far. Why don't we get this excited over education, hunger, or the impoverishment of others in our surrounding communities? If we put this much effort into our ourselves and others, maybe some of or social ills could be cured!
