The Terrell Owens Show Is Over
in Philly!
by: Jason Cunningham (11-8-05)
What a difference a week can make! I believe now that
Terrell Owens will never be in a Philadelphia Eagles' uniform. Arguably the best
player in the NFL, Owens will not play the rest of this season.
Terrell went wrong long before he put
on a Philadelphia
Eagles' uniform. His over the top ego emerged while he played for the San Francisco 49ers,
and this got him run out of town. If it is one thing that Owens may be guilty of
doing too much, is taking his issues to the media. Throughout the years, Terrell
has dogged two of his quarterbacks in the media, including former 49ers' Jeff
Garcia and had the nerve to challenge his manhood, and current Eagle's
quarterback Donovan McNabb's past Superbowl performance.
Owens' situation is so unique that you would
not put anyone else in his category. I know that at times that I was a
knucklehead in college, but I was not going to risk being suspended from the
team. Terrell Owens is so bold that he thinks of himself above the team. He
might be the hardest worker in the NFL, however you cannot put yourself on a
pedestal and publicly humiliate your coach and star QB in the media right after
a public salary dispute. How much does the Philly organization supposed to take?
Terrell Owens will play in the NFL
again, yet it will not be for the Philadelphia Eagles. Nor will he ever see
bonus money again, so Owens will have a year to year contract renewal each year
for the rest of his career. It is a shame that a future Hall of Famer has
allowed himself to fall this far, at the height of his career.
