Texans Dom Capers Needs to Update his Resume

By: Jason Cunningham (11/20/2005)

I would never wish for anyone to lose their job.  Trust me, I have gone through the experience before in my lifetime. Houston Texans' Coach Dom Capers who has been the only head coach in team's history, is so far on the hot seat that he probably needs to win every game left on the schedule in order to keep his job. The Texans 1-8 record is indicative of how bad they have performed this year.

I have watched four games this year, including their lone win versus the Cleveland Browns. This is not a team that executes well on offense or defense. They had injuries to starter running back Domanick Davis and wide receiver Andre Johnson. However their record would not be even different if the both of them had played in every contest this season. It is very disheartening to watch the Texans play on Sunday, when on paper they seem to have a decent team.

Coach Capers has a mess on his hand. I have not seen a sense of urgency out of this team. Clearly, the Houston Texans is the worst team in the NFL. There seems to a lax type of play from their quarterback David Carr and it has extended to the rest of the team. I cannot say that dismissing former offensive coordinator David Palmer has been detrimental to this team's offensive progress, but the offense is anemic.

I am not sure if Coach Dom Capers would want to coach the Texans next year. If he wishes to continue his coaching duties in Texas, he might be showed the door. The team's play is so bad that I can see why someone would believe Capers has lost control of this team. I would not be surprised if they do not win another game this NFL season.
