There Will Be No 3-Peat for
the New England Patriots
By: Jason Cunningham (1/14/2006)
New England's quarterback Tom
Brady has finally lost in the NFL Playoffs. Brady and his Patriots' teammates
were defeated by the Denver Broncos 27-13. It was a long night for the team from
Foxboro, Massachusetts. The lost means there will be no third straight Superbowl
victory for the Patriots.
It is quite simple to explain why New
England lost the game. They had five turnovers, including two
interceptions by quarterback Tom Brady. All ten points of the Denver Broncos
came as a result of 2 turnovers. The 100 yard interception, early in the third
quarter, by Broncos Champ Bailey appeared to be the mistake that broke New
England's back. However give New England's tight end Ben Watson credit for
knocking the ball out of Bailey's hand at the 1 yard line. The Broncos' crowd
made it difficult for Tom Brady to audible at the line of scrimmage. The
Patriots were often down to the last second before snapping the ball.
The Broncos soundly beat the Patriots.
Even when there was a glimmer of hope for New England, Denver found a way to
stretch their lead. Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer did a wonderful job of
managing the game. He threw only one interception.
The Denver Broncos will wait and see
tomorrow's game in Indianapolis, which determines who and where they will pay
next Sunday. If the Indianapolis Colts win, the Broncos will be on the
road in Indy; otherwise if the Pittsburgh Steelers win, then the Broncos get to
host the 2005-2006 season's AFC Championship.
