This Was Not Matt
Leinart's Draft
By: Jason Cunningham (4/29/2006)
In yesterday's NFL Draft, Mr.
Leinart did not go as high as he had expected. With the 10th pick, the Arizona
Cardinals made him their top draft choice. Just last year, Leinart was one class
short of graduation and decided to return to USC; however, no one knows if he
now regrets the decision.
Hindsight is something that
bothers most people. Matt Leinart could have left USC his junior football year,
and graduated through attending summer school. He would have definitely been the
number one overall pick of last year's NFL Draft. A year later, he dropped nine
slots on the draft board.
Leinart is not headed for the
bright lights of Hollywood or New York City. He was passed over by the NY Jets,
who had the fourth pick and selected D'Brickashaw Ferguson. So, Leinart
must learn to adapt to the dry heat of Arizona. Who knows if Leinart will be
happy as an Arizona Cardinal?
