This Year's NFL
Draft Bum: USC's Matt Leinart
By: Jason Cunningham (4/29/2006)
There is one player that I'm
positive will not live up to his NFL Draft hype. It is USC's quarterback Matt
Leinart. While his college statistics and accomplishments are amazing, Leinart
was a product of USC's system.
As a former Heisman Trophy
and two-time National Champion winner, Matt Leinart was always in the spotlight.
Before his former teammate Reggie Bush stole some of his thunder last season, he
was the face of Division 1-A NCAA Football. Leinart returned for his senior year
to play football at USC, even though he was just one class short of graduation.
Today, Leinart is expected
to be a top ten pick in the NFL Draft. He will be a celebrated pick, but I
predict his career will resemble former Cleveland Browns quarterback Tim Couch.
Leinart is overrated, and had more weapons at USC, than any other quarterback in
the modern era. Remember you heard this from me, Mr. Mel Kiper Jr. Hopefully,
Leinart will last long enough to begin a Hollywood acting career.
