Thoughts About the Chappelle Lost Episodes

By: Jason Cunningham (7-20-2006)

I was excited when Comedy Central announced it would be showings the "lost episodes" from the Chappelle Show. Unfortunately, the showing of these episodes would not be hosted by Dave Chappelle. At least, Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings host the episodes, instead of strangers that had nothing to do with the show.

Since season two of the Chappelle Show, the world has been waiting for a season three and the return of Dave Chappelle to the show. Neither one of these two things has occurred. Dave does not appear to be coming back, nor will a complete season three be aired. So, we are left with these lost episodes. Strangely enough, it's like watching six innings of a baseball game, and being told you can't see the rest of it, or watching the original Star Trek without William Shatner.

I love Charlie Murphy as a storyteller and writer, but not as a stand-up comedian. He and Donnell Rawlings do not open up the show as well as Dave Chappelle.  Actually, they should just come out at the beginning and end of the episode. Charlie and Darnell have been as funny as a current episode of BET's Comic View. In my opinion, Comic View has not been funny in years.

I really miss Dave Chappelle. The world was a better place with his weekly humor. The Chappelle Show was something that everyone could watch and keep on laughing.
