True Religious Faith and Politics

By: Jason Cunningham

The aim of all civilization should be to live in a world of peace. If God is your guiding Light then let not a frown appear upon the face of your brother or sister because of the strife that we cause.

Recently, I have had to look critically at my own failures in life and how they have affected the lives of others. One must come to grips with their own sins, before they are able to be enlightened in my opinion. Yet more importantly, the realization that this world does not operate on isolationism, is very important to improve the human condition around the globe. Through education, commerce, and social activities, we are exposed to many individuals with varying religious beliefs and politics.

The individuals that we come in contact with represent not only those in our midst, but are relatives to the culture experiences they bring to the table. Many of our religious faiths will be tested in lifetimes, and we will grapple with the decisions of our leaders that are faced in political struggles with other nations or entities. Some of us stand behind the Bible, the most read book in history, as words of wisdom from our God, the Creator of the Universe. Yes, war and destruction of people existed in Biblical times and the Bibles speaks of such events, especially in the Old Testament.

For most Christians, Jesus Christ is the essential character in the faith that many in America and around the globe follow. History shows Jesus to be a man of peace, whose politics and moral philosophy seemed to be in conflict with the Laws of Moses according to the Pharisees, the Biblical scholars during his lifetime. Sometimes those who really want peace are not accepted as part of the norm and ostracized at times. The religious authorities around the world, without stepping on the feet of their political leaders must unite together and encourage peace. Those who are against the prospects of an unrealized utopia must ask themselves, why they do not want to give peace a chance, something Jesus as well as many main characters in other faiths would agree upon!
