Why Catching Bin Laden Would Erode War on Terror Support!

By: Jason Cunningham (11/20/2005)

The day after September 11, 2001, President George Bush promised to bring to justice those who struck terror upon the US. We all saw those painful images of the destroyed World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, which occurred on September 11, 2001.  Almost immediately after the second plane hit the World Trade Center, the media blamed Bin Laden as the mastermind of these terrorist attacks.

We were told that United States troops were sent into Afghanistan to find and capture Osama bin Laden. Still to do this day, no one has been able to bring this Saudi born citizen to justice. However if President Bush keeps his promise of making everyone pay for their role in the September 11 attacks, including Osama bin Laden, then what happens to the support on  the War on Terror or whatever the Administration calls the war when bin Laden is captured? I honestly believe that both Republicans and Democrats at that point in time, and only then, will request for the majority of American troops to come home. Otherwise Osama bin Laden, in my opinion,  is not the reason we have engaged in this global search for extremist who threaten democracy around the world.

I know a lot of people disagree with my analysis. Remember when this global war was declared, Osama bin Laden name became a household name. As far as I am concern, he is the number one enemy of the US.  Yes later on, Iraqi's former President Saddam Hussein became the focus as the shift turned to Iraq, however most people would rather have Osama bin Laden in custody than Hussein. Hopefully my theory in the near future can be tested, but when do you ever hear someone in the current White House even mentioning Osama bin Laden's name?
