Why Did the Titans Pass on Leinart?

By: Jason Cunningham (5/2/2006)

A lot of the critics believe USC's Matt Leinart and not Texas' Vince Young should have been the first quarterback taken in this year's NFL Draft. However, the Tennessee Titans with the third pick selected Vince Young.

It is ironic that Leinart did not get picked by the Titans. Matt's former USC's offensive coordinator is no other than current Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow. Did Chow really want to coach Matt Leinart? You see the Titans grabbed Leinart's former teammate LenDale White in the second round of the draft.

Maybe, Leinart is not the golden boy. He could be more like former Duke player Christian Laettner, who is still living off his college greatness, even in retirement. We will see how Leinart pans out. Do not expect him to be the next Joe Montana!
