Why I Feel for Mike Tyson!

By: Jason Cunningham (7-11-2006)

It is hard to imagine that anyone in the world is not familiar with the rise and fall of "Iron" Mike Tyson. At the tender age of 20, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. However,  later in his career, Tyson became better know for being convicted on rape charges and biting the ear of fellow boxer Evander Holyfield.

At one time, most of us thought Mike Tyson would be considered one of the greatest boxing champions in history. Unfortunately, Tyson did not have the cerebral capacity to make wise decisions in and out of the ring. Tyson's public marriage to Robin Givens revealed details about his anger management problems. Also, he hooked up with boxing promoter Don King and fired his trainer Kevin Rooney. By 1990, the invincibility of Mike Tyson had been called into question, as Buster Douglas gave Tyson his first loss of his career. In 1992, Tyson was sentenced to jail on rape charges.

In 1995, Tyson was freed from jail, but began to look like an old man in the ring. His most embarrassing moments included biting the ear of Evander Holyfield, and getting beat in the ring by Kevin McBride. Since leaving jail, we also learned that Tyson had some financial difficulties. This is amazing considering how much money this man made throughout his career.

Tyson probably has a low IQ. People around him took advantage of the situation. He would have been better served to be educated outside of the ring, in order to become a productive citizen after his boxing career ended. It is correct to say Tyson had hands of stone, but he lacked the mental capacity of the ordinary adult.
