Why Marriage is Important?
By Jason Cunningham (7/26/2005)
Marriage is an important
institution in our society. At the root of its proposed foundation, is an
underlining promise of commitment to one another. While, living together in an
unmarried state has become popular, this does not prove that marriage is an
unworthy undertaking.
People in general, may possess many
different ideas, concerning how to define marriage. Still, marriage probably has
a positive influence over most children, because they are able to see how a
stable family unit can work. It is also important for adults, who attempt to
balance pressures from work, economic, and social entities to have someone in a
committed relationship, that they can depend on, for help and guidance
through life's difficulties.
It should be no surprise that
individuals that are not married, are more likely to engage in acts of
promiscuity. These actions can result in deadly consequences including
death caused by the AIDS virus, other STDS, and mental breakdowns as a result
of feeling used, or having nothing to show from a non-committal relationship.
Marriage should still be regarded as
the ideal adult state of living. Generally, men statistically live longer when
they are married. The financial and emotional support of having a mate, not only
creates a good foundation for raising children, but aides in creating a stronger
society.
