Why the NHL Needs to Market
More to Minorities?

The NHL in the United States might as well
be on its death bed. Last season's lockout proved that fans and occasion
watchers do not mind watching more basketball games and women's billiards. The
league needs a new strategy, and it should include targeting minorities.
I have never seen a NHL ad on BET or
the occasion times that Univision is on my set. How can this be, when you
consider the purchasing power of minorities. The NHL needs a fresh start,
maybe they need rapper Ludacris or 50 Cent to promote the league to the
forgotten market. Don't worry about Fox's Bill O'Reilly, as bad as the NHL press
has been lately, a controversial person will bring awareness to your dying
brand.
Besides BET would be a good fit for the
NHL. BET has lot of air time that could be used for something other than videos.
The NHL needs a network to stand behind it. Fat chance if the league believes
the big networks are going to stand by and not make money or something else.
Regardless of what happens, the NHL really needs to market to minorities. We
feel that you are neglecting us.
